Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to stop by.
For several years now I have entered the drawings for a Minnesota bear tag. every year without fail, I've been drawn. Until this year!
If you didn't get drawn for your bear tag this year, you may very well be stuck doing what I have to do this year. Hunt a NO QUOTA zone!
Now I know what some of you are thinking. No quota = More hunters. While that may be true for some of the more northern parts of the no quota zone, don't forget about some of the areas closer to the cities. With the numbers of bear being seen and killed by game and fish this year within the city limits (the twin cities, not just small towns) you may want to think outside the box this season.
While I will not tell you where I will be hunting this year, I will tell you that I will likely only be about 45 minutes away from home at best depending on traffic (from the Twin Cities). While that may be way to close for some of you, I'm looking at it from a baiting/hunting point of view. I won't have to take time away from school or work like I'd normally have to do, and getting up to the land to bait really is a non issue. I can just take off and bait pretty much at will. Plus the less time I have to take off for my bear hunts means I get more time in the deer woods this fall!
I've never hunted this close to the cites before, but really look forward to the challenge.
As always, thank you for taking the time to check in! Be sure to check back in to see how things progress with my semi-metro bear adventure.

Spring is HERE!!!
Hello everyone, and sorry I have not been updating my blog like I should have.
This winter has brought a lot of changes with some of them being very time consuming to say the least. We moved into out house in August of 2009 and have been busting our tail all fall to get settled, but I'm starting to think we should have just moved into the country and life would be a lot better for all of us. Buster and the Kids would have a MUCH larger yard to play in, and I'd have a large "yard" to hunt in along with having more space to train buster for hunting.
This summer even though we will still no doubt be busy, I'll still make sure to update my blog and take as much time as needed to teach my kids (including the 4 legged one) all there is to know about hunting. Plus I'd like to teach Buster how to search for shed antlers. I am sure that will be a fairly easy thing to do since he has a nose of gold!
Well its getting late but I WILL update my blog a little more often.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog, and good hunting/fishing!
Dave
